Velos Rotors, together with Dronecloud, RUAS, Network Rail and other project partners, contributed to a landmark milestone in long-range BVLOS railway operations, with the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) authorising flights of up to 70 km across nine rail routes. The project brings together the Velos V3 unmanned helicopter, Dronecloud’s Uncrewed Traffic Management (UTM) system, and the operational expertise of the project partners to enable safe and scalable BVLOS operations for railway infrastructure. The milestone marks an important step toward the wider adoption of unmanned aviation for railway inspection, incident response, and more efficient infrastructure management.
